Richard heads up the Specialist Sales Team.

His wine career began in 1980 with Steven Spurrier at les Caves de Madeleine in Paris and over the last 26 years he has built up considerable industry experience, including periods at John E Fells & Sons Ltd, Champagne Lanson and Geoffrey Roberts Agencies. He joined HwCg in 2000.

In his spare time, Richard if not riding a horse (yes there is one big enough!) enjoys playing tennis, always making sure he has a younger player to run around at the back while he poaches the odd shot at the net. Richard is a very keen skier and tries to get a weekend in on his normal July trip to Chile. He has an eclectic taste in music and loves the current "indie" music scene, is a regular "gig" goer and is proud to say that both his godsons are now fronting their own bands!

Responsible for the North of England and Scotland

Chris started with Hwcg in October 2005, specifically to work within the Independent Specialist Sector.

He started in the wine trade after completing an HND in Business & Finance in 1996, where he worked for four years in an Independent Wine Merchants. From there he has had various roles within the wine industry selling to the on trade, spending his final year, before joining HwCg, setting up a wine and spirits division for an Independent beer wholesaler. Chris lived in the Ardeche for a year and has a French wife and 2 sons.

Outside of work he enjoys motorsport, especially motorcycle racing and rallying. He also does some hill walking and mountain biking.

 

Robin Kinahan MW, Director

Robin is responsible for Thresher, Airlines and the South West of England.

Robin joined HwCg as a Director in 1998, having previously held the positions of Wine Director at Eldridge Pope, Director at Edward Cavendish & Sons and Commercial Director of Waverley Vintners.

In 2004 Robin was elected Chairman of the Masters of Wine Institute. He is currently Chief Examiner of the MW examinations.

In his spare time Robin enjoys gliding and walking the picturesque South Westcoastal path where he lives.

Mark Isham began working for HwCg in October 2006. Mark lives in Newbury, Berkshire, and is responsible for the National on-trade, London, the Midlands and the South. Prior to HwCg he spent 3 years at Brown Brothers managing their key regional customers in the south of England.

Before that he spent two and a half years as Liquor Divisional Manager at Spinney’s in Abu Dhabi. He also has experience working with both Bottoms Up and Wine Cellar.

 

 

Helen Barugh, Sales Account Manager - North

Helen works closely with Chris in the North of England as a Sales Account Manager.

Helen has joined us from Diageo GB where she worked as a Business Development Executive managing Yorkshire and the North East.  Prior to working for Diageo, Helen worked as an Investment Executive for a private bank in Leeds after graduating from Stirling University in 2001.

Outside of work, Helen can be found on the golf course or the squash court.  She is particularly keen on golf, playing off a handicap of 4 and represents Yorkshire Ladies County.  When time permits, Helen also supports the Northern Wine Academy with events and wine tutorials.

 

Tom Barton, Sales Account Manager - South

Tom joins us from Majestic Wines where he has worked for the last 7 years, most recently as Senior Manager at their Camberley store.  Having obtained the WSET Diploma in 2005, he also ran product knowledge training courses for the company.

Tom enjoys being outdoors; travelling - particularly to wine regions of the world, playing golf (although not to Helen's standards) and watching exciting rugby played by the Leicester Tigers.  Tom will also attempt to resurrect his cricket career next summer!

Wendy joined us from Hawkshead Clothing where she was employed as Executive Assistant to the CEO but has also had experience in marketing, visual merchandising and new product development.

In her spare time when Wendy isn't busy looking after her young son, she enjoys Thai Chi, drawing, painting, making wedding dresses and jewellery making.

Andrea has joined us in a dual role as both receptionist and to provide sales support for the Specialist Team. Previously at First Class Business Solutions, she is used to working in a busy office environment, something that we are sure will stand her in good stead here at HwCg!

In her spare time Andrea enjoys spending most of her time with her family, occasionally going to the gym and gardening.

Helen Munday , Marketing and PR Director

Helen has extensive brand and retail marketing experience, having previously held marketing position at Boots and Thresher Group.  Whilst at Threshers, she was responsible for the development and roll-out of the highly successful Origin and Radcliffe ranges. Helen joined HwCg in 2004 and has been instrumental in the development of various HwCg brands.

 

Sarah Dodd, Events Manager

After spending 7 years stockbroking, Sarah left the UK to travel the world. Two wonderful years were spent backpacking and working, from cooking lunches in the city to jillerooing in the outback of Australia. On her return in '92 Sarah joined Hedley Wright, and has been with us ever since, organising both internal and external events for the company.

Sport takes up most of her spare time, which includes being the world's worst caddy for her golf mad husband.

Duncan has been with Hedley Wright since 1990 and he is currently responsible for all shipping and bond operations at HwCg.

Over the years he has built up a wealth of experience in stock control, logistics and bond operation. In his free time Duncan is usually busy with his three children and any spare moments he has are spent playing golf or watching Arsenal.

Sarah joined HwCg in 2004, after having spent five years working as a merchandiser at Marks & Spencer. She now co-ordinates all ex-cellar deliveries, ensuring the smooth transition of wine from around the globe to the customer.

In her spare time Sarah enjoys riding her horse and competes in many events. She also likes gardening.

Lisa joined HwCg in 2007.  She helps support bond operations and coordinates ex-cellar deliveries for the Specialist sector.

 

 

 

Dominic Hentall, Winemaker

Dominic discovered wine whilst in Bordeaux, picking his first harvest in St Emilion 20 years ago whilst studying at Bordeaux University. He studied a BSc Hons degree in Hotel Business Management at Oxford Brookes University, then worked at Majestic to gain retail experience.

Dominic returned to winemaking with Hugh Ryman in France for three harvests, and also spent three harvests at Leasingham Wines in Australia, gaining valuable winemaking experience. He joined HWCG as Head of Winemaking in 1997 and is responsible for co-ordinating UK winemaking styles from suppliers worldwide.

In his spare time Dominic enjoys driving (and racing occasionally) and renovating and maintaining fast Italian sports cars. He is also a pianist and likes scuba diving and fine wine and food.
