The Uitkyk estate (pronounced "ate cake") is situated on a plateau over looking Table Bay, False Bay and the Cape Peninsula. Although it has been farmed since the early 18th century, its wine production is relatively recent, having begun in 1929. A Prussian immigrant bought the farm and spotted the great potential of its exposure and climate and they have never looked back, producing some award winning wines
The Flat Roof Manor wines are also produced by the Uitkyk winery. The wines are an interesting and eclectic mix of classic South African varietals and some more unusual Italian and French grapes
